Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. But for a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended families, these traits came as a normal. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well in sports and loved rough games. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. In the end, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her country of birth. When she was fourteen, she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
